James Valentine presents Afternoons on ABC Radio Sydney every weekday. He is also currently touring a live theatrical version of the show called Afternoons Tonight.

James has worked for thirty years in all aspects of Australian media. For ABC TV he has presented and produced the arts show The Mix, a reality show for amateur musicians called Exhumed and in the 1980s he was the kid’s TV presenter on the Afternoon Show.

He’s written for every major publication and is the author of a successful series of books for young readers The JumpMan Trilogy.

He began his career as a musician and in the heyday of Australian pub rock was an in demand session and touring musician. He recorded and appeared most notably with Models, Absent Friends and Wendy Matthews, but was also featured in bands with Jo Camilleri, Kate Ceberano and Steve Cummings.

In other areas of media he’s been a regular commentator on Sunrise, a reporter for Midday and Good Morning Australia and for many years reviewed film for Showtime.

He’s married with two children and lives in Sydney.
